The Chicago Bears are impressed with what they have seen from Marcus Freeman's Notre Dame team. NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday morning that the Chicago Bears are interested in interviewing him for the head coaching role.

Freeman and the Fighting Irish won the Orange Bowl on Thursday night. They now aim to hoist the National Championship trophy on Jan. 20.

Despite Tom Pelissero saying in his report that Marcus Freeman likely won't interview before the national championship, fans still weren't happy.

Because both teams were geographically close, several people on X were fans of both the Bears and the Fighting Irish. Those fans also didn't agree with the idea of Freeman possibly departing for the NFL.

"I don’t hate it, but I don’t think he is looking to leave ND," one fan tweeted
"It would be another in a long list of Bears things to do," another tweeted
"0% chance," one tweeted.

Fans on X expressed their opinions on Marcus Freeman being a Chicago Bears candidate.

The Bears parted ways with Matt Eberflus during the 2024 NFL season and are on the hunt for a head coach who can help quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense.

"He just signed a huge extension with ND 2 weeks ago he’s going nowhere," one fan tweeted.
"Stay away from him, Bears," one fan tweeted.
"Man, imagine going from coaching Notre Dame in the national championship to Halas Hall," another tweeted.

NFL Insider reported Bears have done "extensive research" on Marcus Freeman

Marcus Freeman is only in his second season as the head coach of the Chicago Bears. In the first year of the 12-team playoff, Freeman has led his team to wins over Indiana, Georgia and Penn State and will now face the team he played for, Ohio State, for the national title.

Freeman garnered the attention of the Chicago Bears as NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Sunday morning on NFL Network:

"The Bears have done extensive research for months on Marcus Freeman. He is only 39 years old, it would not be a shock if at some point he at least considers going to the NFL."

The Bears are familiar with Freeman as a player. Chicago drafted him in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, however, he was waived in September of that year.
