Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young is all set to make his season debut in Week 16, head coach Ron Rivera announced earlier today.
Young has not suited up for the Commanders since suffering an unfortunate ACL tear in Week 10 last season. So far this year, Young has not been made active for any of the games.
He will, however, take the field against the high-flying San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.

Alongside the 2020 second overall pick, Commanders QB Carson Wentz could also see some action in Week 16.
Wentz was taken off Injured Reserve earlier this month and could be called upon if Washington's offense continues to struggle with Taylor Heinicke under center. Wentz, the 2016 second overall pick, hasn't played since October 13 after suffering a finger injury.
The matchup against the San Francisco 49ers also takes on increased importance for the Commanders. As things stand, they hold the seventh and final playoff spot.
Will Chase Young play in Week 16?
Provided there isn't an unfortunate turn of events between now and game time, Chase Young will make his season debut vs the 49ers. However, expect Young to face a limited number of snaps with Ron Rivera likely to ease him into action.
Young's debut will come at a pivotal time in the season with the Commanders at 7-6-1 and fourth in the NFC East. With three games remaining, Washington needs every star to shine and the return of Chase Young could be huge. Following the 49ers, the Commanders will face the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys. If they win out, they'll certainly make the postseason. If they lose a game, things could get a little trickier.
With everything to play for and a loss seeming critical, it will be interesting to see if the Commanders can sneak their way into the playoffs. With Young back on their defense, their chances have certainly improved.
