Before the Washington Commanders came to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season, Cam Taylor-Britt had engaged in some trash talk. The cornerback had said that the Washington offense is really simple and designed for a college level to help rookie Jayden Daniels. It was a not-so-subtle dig at offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury as well, who was coaching college football last season:

"They don’t make him do a lot. They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense. [Kliff] Kingsbury’s the OC," Taylor-Britt said.

That backfired spectacularly as the Commanders obliterated the Bengals 38-33. Jayden Daniels was spectacular with a completion rate of 91.3%, which is a record for a rookie and the first time it has ever been over 90%. The previous record belonged to Dak Prescott.

The Commanders' offensive scheme also proved too much for the Bengals to handle as they scored a touchdown on every drive but three, which were accounted for by one field goal and two quarterback kneels at the end of each half.

It was an embarrassing performance and Cam Taylor-Britt was certainly as culpable as anyone else. And Washington fans were in no mood to let him off easy given his comments prior to the game.

Taking to X/Twitter, they roasted the Bengals defender and missed no opportunity to troll him back. Here are some of the reactions from fans:

The pushback was relentless after this special victory. Cam Taylor-Britt was not just roasted but others even took time to praise Kliff Kingsbury and Jayden Daniels for their performance after the Bengals defender's insensitive comments before the game:

"Jayden Daniels Made him eat his words tonight," one fan said.
"Was able to back it up against worthy but not scary terry and jayden daniels," another fan added.
"Fu**ing idiot doesn’t know that we own him in 2k and so does Jayden," one fan opined.

Cam Taylor-Britt and Bengals defense cause downfall against Commanders

Joe Burrow had 324 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, no interceptions, a completion rate north of 75 percent, and a passer rating of 127.5 against the Commanders for the Bengals. In any other game, this should have been enough to secure a victory, as they scored 33 points.

But Cam Taylor-Britt and the Cincinnati defense was atrocious. They allowed 38 points, which came via three rushing touchdowns, two passing scores, and one field goal. Except for Jayden Daniels kneeling to run out the clock at the end of each half, Washington scored on each of their six drives.

Even when Trey Hendrickson got a late sack in the fourth quarter that could have given the Bengals enough time to win the game, they allowed the Commanders to get a fourth down.

Joe Burrow now has 746 passing yards in three games, no interceptions, and five touchdowns. That the Bengals are still 0-3 has a lot to do with their defensive frailties, especially at key moments.
