Washington Commanders and Chicago Bears fans had the Week 8 showdown between the rookie quarterbacks circled for weeks leading up to the game. Early in the season, Caleb Williams slumped while Jayden Daniels surged, giving some the impression that Daniels was the best QB selected in the 2024 NFL draft.
However, instead of talking about the QBs as many expected, the conversation surrounding the game has been about cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who taunted fans before contributing to the successful Hail Mary by hitting the ball toward wide receiver Noah Brown.
In an interview on "Good Morning Football" on Tuesday, Brown talked about what he saw in Stevenson.

"I know it's become a huge thing. I didn't see it as you can see it," Brown said (0:16). "A Hail Mary is a super long play. So I kind of have my head down trying to get down to the end zone. So it's not something I saw until after the game. I'm just glad to come out with the win. I'm not going to help crucify the guy."
Brown was given a clear opportunity to slam Stevenson and contribute to the tsunami of jokes and hate thrown at the CB. Instead, he took the high road.
Commanders and Bears offenses slump to season lows in Caleb Williams-Jayden Daniels rookie bowl
There has been a lot of talk about the final play of the game. However, before the final pass, both Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams' offenses were in a slump.
If one takes away the miraculous Hail Mary conversion, the Washington Commanders would have scored just 12 points, in what would have been their lowest total of the season. Williams' offense scored 15 points, which is their second-lowest point total of the season.
Some fans may chalk it up to Daniels' injured ribs and perhaps some nerves for both QBs, but pregame jitters typically fade away as a game progresses.
Regardless, both fanbases will hope that both defenses didn't just figure out the blueprint to beat the other, kicking off a long-term offensive decline for one of the more exciting rookie QBs both franchises have seen in quite some time.
