"Cost him his family", "Football really all he know" - Unbelievable Tom Brady stat has left NFL fans in awe and disbelief

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Arizona Cardinals
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady's longevity is already the stuff of legends. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is playing in his 23rd NFL season and beyond his 45th birthday in 2022, achieving previously unfathomable feats.

It was already difficult to comprehend how long Brady has been in the NFL. But this new stat about his longevity is mind-boggling. On Thursday, the quarterback completed 8,292 days in the NFL, which is exactly the number of days he was alive between his birth and the day he was selected by the New England Patriots with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL draft.

Fans on social media were in disbelief when they learned that Brady had spent half his life in the NFL. Here are some of the best reactions:

Will Tom Brady play in 2023?

For only the second time in his career, Tom Brady will enter free agency at the end of the 2022 NFL season. He is yet to announce whether he intends to play next season. Rumors have circulated about Brady returning to New England for a swansong with the Patriots. He has also been linked with a move to the San Francisco 49ers to end his NFL career with his childhood team.

On the latest episode of the Let's Go podcast, Brady addressed his future without divulging too much information. He said:

"I think next time I decide to retire, that's it for me. So, whenever that day comes, we'll figure it out."

He further explained:

"I think what I really realized last year was you got to be really sure to do that. And for me, it's a lot of people have kind of gone through a situation. How you feel when the season ends versus two or three years later or so. So, I'm going to take my time. Whenever that time does come."

Tom Brady is non-commital about his status for next year, but if he decides to continue playing, it's unlikely it will be in Tampa with the Buccaneers.
