Cowboys fans were left disappointed after they finished 7-10 in a year that Jerry Jones promised to be "all-in" for the Super Bowl. Not only did Dallas not reach the championship game, they failed to reach the playoffs after winning the division last season.

Even worse for them was that the Eagles and the Commanders, two of their most hated rivals, made it to the postseason and the Cowboys fans will be forced to watch them try to do what they could not. It was a disappointing conclusion to the year as they suffered consecutive defeats to Philadelphia and Washington to leave Dallas supporters under no illusions about the size of the task ahead.

Jerry Jones will be tasked to oversee that rebuild and generally when a season finishes as poorly as this, one expects wholesale changes from the head coach to the general manager to the roster. Mike McCarthy is still in the hot seat but the Cowboys owner said after that game that he will remain the team's general manager despite their losing record in 2024.

His pronouncement left Dallas fans fuming with their owner and they took to X/Twitter to express their frustration. Here are some responses from the social media platform.

The sentiment was unanimous across the board and supporters all said that nothing will change with the Cowboys as long as Jerry Jones handles the general manager's duties. Here are some more sample posts from X/Twitter.

"As long as Jerry Jones is the GM, Dallas will never win. If he wants to win and not just grift fans out of ticket money then he will hire a GM NOW." - declared one.
"Well until he’s not the GM, nothing will change" - concurred another.
"He’s still the GM, so more losing confirmed" - reiterated a third.

Jerry Jones might need to make a coaching change for the Cowboys whether he wants to or not

Throughout the season, people have talked about Mike McCarthy being in the hot seat and whether Jerry Jones will bring him back for 2025. That ignores the fact that the head coach's contract also ends after this season and he is free to speak with other teams. Since the Cowboys owner has now indicated that nothing is going to change above him, Mike McCarthy could decide that staying only hurts his image even further.

He could choose to go elsewhere, even if that might not be a head coaching job. With Micah Parsons' contract coming up in 2025, in addition to the mega contracts that Jones already handed out to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, there is not much space for improvement by bringing in veterans. The draft remains their best route and with the general manager position confirmed to remain as it is, the Cowboys coach could decide to walk away of his own volition.
