On Saturday, September 28, the NFL announced that it was fining Dallas Cowboys' star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb $22,511 for spearing Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton onto the ground with his helmet (no penalty flag for unnecessary roughness/use-of-helmet had been thrown) during their Week 3 game.

Upon coming across this news, there was immediate outrage among the team's fans:

More reactions from fans read:

"OMG they are handing these fines out like candy," one complained.
"Will every ball carrier in week four also receive a $22,511 fine because this is how they all finish runs?" another fan sarcastically asked.
"Tua did the same thing. Why does the NFL pick and choose?" another wondered.

Lamb was not the only offensive player to be fined for spearing with the helmet while carrying the ball. Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs also drew a $45,020 penalty for ramming Tennessee Titans safety Quandre Diggs during a 10-yard rush.

CeeDee Lamb apologetic for performance vs. Ravens, rebounds vs. Giants

The aforementioned Ravens game would be one of the least impressive in CeeDee Lamb's career so far, as he had just four receptions for 67 yards and no touchdowns in the loss.

He also lost a fumble, dropped a pass, and was once seen seemingly arguing with quarterback Dak Prescott. After the game, he apologized for it:

"Just being a professional about this whole situation, understanding it's a long game. But as for me and my performance, I expect a lot out of myself, more than anyone could put on me. And, quite honestly, I failed myself. I failed the team just as far as producing and being that game-breaker and the guy that they can lean on."

He continued.

"And, yeah, I kind of let the game get to my head a little bit. But in the same sense, I know what I can do. I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I can do on that field. So, with that being said, going forward, there shall be a difference."

Lamd rebounded four days later against the New York Giants, whom he humiliated with seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. After the game, he gave a young fan his gloves, an act that elicited positive fan reaction.
