Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb received some passive counsel on his offseason workout regimen from former NFL wide receiver Cole Beasley on Friday.
Beasley, who also played for the Cowboys from 2012 to 2018, quoted a video that surfaced on X. It showed Lamb performing a range of activities that appeared to be less peculiar. The exercises seemed to be focused on helping Lamb develop his explosiveness and 'change of direction' abilities.
"Man, just do some heavy squats and power cleans," Beasley said, quoting the video.

A couple of NFL fans found Beasley's comment disrespectful and told him that it's not his place to advise Lamb, who is currently among the top wide receivers in NFL.

Firing back at a fan, Beasley claimed he could gain up to 1,000 yards in receptions if given as many targets as Lamb does in the Cowboys' current scheme.
"Give me 180 targets off the couch and I eclipse 1000. Stop looking at stats and check the tape. As far as getting open goes…I’m confident I did that with the best of them," Beasley replied to the fan who claimed the former receiver never recorded a 1000-yard season in his career.
Lamb boasted in response, presumably offended by Beasley's remark, that he didn't require 180 targets to get 1,000 yards receiving:
“I don’t need 180 targets to touch a band. Pull up tape, I’d match you route for route on getting open. Just Chill. @Bease11,” Lamb replied.
Cowboys wide receiver responding to Beasley got some attention, of course — especially considering that Lamb hadn't posted on X since March. Social media users were hyped to see the interaction. Here's how some of them reacted on X:
"Cole Beasley has been a literal insect in any conversation since he stopped playing in the league," one fan said.
"Is @Bease11 retarded? The man has never touched, smelled, heard, or seen 1,000 yds in a season. '180 targets off the couch' boy couldn’t hit 700 yds with 112 targets (most he’s had in a season)," another fan said.
CeeDee Lamb topped all NFL receivers in yards after catch last campaign. He will be hoping to have an even better season once the 2024 campaign kicks off in September.
What are the reasonable expectations for CeeDee Lamb in 2024?
The Dallas Cowboys selected CeeDee Lamb with the 17th overall choice in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The wide receiver has become better practically every year he has been in the league, across several key statistics, including targets, catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Given that Lamb had a dominant run in the league last season, there isn't much room for him to improve for the fourth consecutive year. The 25-year-old will still have a great season if his stat line is comparable to that of the previous one.
CeeDee Lamb caught 135 passes for 1,749 yards and 14 touchdowns in 17 games in 2023. He was also selected to play in his third career Pro Bowl in the last season.
