Trey Lance continues to be the subject of derision among NFL and the Dallas Cowboys fans. At the Los Angeles Rams on Sunda, the fourth-year quarterback could muster only 188 yards in 25 of 41 passes completed and no touchdowns.
His counterpart, Stetson Bennett, was intercepted four times but clinched the hosts' win via a touchdown pass to tight end Miller Forristall with only four seconds left - the only time either team breached the end zone.
After the game, resentment against Lance reemerged:

More of it can be seen below:
"Ain't the future," one said.
"Could not beat my High School," another jeered.
"Don’t let Trey Lance suit up ever again," another begged.
Athlon Sports' Richie Whitt summarized his performance as follows:
"His legs are a weapon; his arm a liability... Several times he hesitated just a beat in delivering the ball, allowing open receivers to be covered, minimizing what should have been bigger gains and one time negating a touchdown. Other times, he simply wasn't accurate with his ball placement. And on a couple occasions, both."
Trey Lance determined to prove his worth in the preseason
So far, the consensus on Trey Lance has been that he has been disappointing - very disappointing. But that is not stopping the former San Francisco 49er from trying to break through.
During Friday's practice, he said:
"I'm going into this game the same as I've gone into every other game my whole entire life. I don't think that I'll put too much extra in it. I'm not gonna play any harder than I have in the past, or not harder.
"Big game for me. Big game for us so I'm excited to go out there and play well."
Meanwhile, GiveMeSport's Paul Silano Jr. writes that Lance has realistically only a backup spot with which to save his career:
"The alternatives aren't ideal. Maybe Lance would receive additional opportunities on other practice squads if he can't make the team, but that can only last so long. Without many snaps that he desperately needs, he would likely fizzle out eventually, ending his NFL career."
But that is now also becoming increasingly unlikely given his struggles in the preseason, from throwing multiple interceptions during practice scrimmages to blowing a six-point lead playing "game manager."
