Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys will end the season with a losing record despite shelling out a great deal of cash to retain players like CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.
Not all of the Cowboys' failures can be pinned on the coach, especially considering their star QB was ruled out for the entire season in November. However, many believe McCarthy has played a part in the team's poor season.
On Monday's episode of "Herd w/ Colin Cowherd," Cowboys great Michael Irvin elaborated why he would not want McCarthy to return in 2025. This is despite the team making a decent comeback during the last few games after the initial slump.
"I just think it's time to go in another direction. I hear this 'late surge' and maybe staying with Mike McCarthy. I'm not on that. I'm not on that bandwagon," Michael Irvin told Colin Cowherd.

According to him, the Cowboys need more "discipline." They might have started to get back to their usual form, but it's not enough.
"What I believe is this team needs more discipline. You can't come in soft and then try to get tough. You got to come in tough and then, and then lighten up, because then the guys will feel like they've earned some respect."
NFL insider takes Mike McCarthy off the hot seat
Before the Cowboys' 41-7 humiliation by the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL insider Diani Russini had claimed that the Cowboys' HC was off the hot seat.
"They weren't winning, they seemed lost and now they're surging," Russini said on Thursday. "And their offense is clicking. So, why are you going to move on to a guy who's won this many games for you? Perhaps maybe not in the big dance, but he's got all the right things."
However, after the Eagles game, it seems McCarthy is back under the spotlight, but for a bad reason. Jerry Jones has also, in the past, said that he is not going to lose faith in the coach and that an extension was imminent once the offseason was underway.
Could Mike McCarthy lead the Cowboys to glory next season and 2024 be just an anomaly in his resume? Or has the Super Bowl-winning coach truly lost his mojo?
