Dak Prescott CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons' contract situations have been one of the pillars of conversation in the 2024 offseason. Jerry Jones has been painted by many to be the bad guy in the negotiation process.

However, one former player for Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys believes Jones has reason to be apprehensive about handing over a big new deal to his biggest stars. According to a July 24 article by Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Michael Irvin called out the players and their families for saying a bit too much. Here's what he said:

“The biggest problem is who you’re paying. We’re about to take three guys who I hear Dak’s people talking noise in the media all the time, CeeDee’s people talking on social media, and Micah Parsons people, talking in the media or Micah himself.

"We got our top three guys that we’re about to give all the money in the world. And their families (are) always running their (expletive) mouth in the media. That is a hard place to be. So what it says to me is you’re about to give money to three guys that are not even together,” he added.

Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are all on pace to either be slapped with a franchise tag or left to hit the free market. Prescott has a no-trade, no-franchise tag clause, meaning he holds all of the cards with the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Parsons and Lamb could be hit with a tag, but with only one tag to go around, there eventually could be a scenario where the team could lose one to the market in 2026. However, how Jones treats Prescott now could set expectations for the wide receiver and pass rusher.

With the general manager taking the slow road on his most important player, one could logically believe Lamb and Parsons are running through potential exit scenarios. Of course, all of this discussion could be put aside if Jones were to capitulate to Prescott's requests and get at least one deal done.

Getting one deal done would send a message that progress is happening beyond just talking about it, which could create a brand new environment for negotiating with Parsons, Lamb, or Prescott.

Will Jerry Jones get his quarterback signed before the team's first preseason game on Aug. 11?
