Davante Adams is on the trade block, and multiple teams are interested in him. In recent days, the Dallas Cowboys emerged as a potential suitor for the star wide receiver.
However, Cowboys' EVP Stephen Jones has cooled down the team's interest in Adams. He believes the 31-year-old wideout is a number one option, and the team already has that in CeeDee Lamb.
As per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Jones said:
“No. I don’t think there is anything to that. We just signed our No. 1 guy (CeeDee Lamb) and (Adams) is a No. 1 receiver. When you have the challenges cap-wise that we have, that would be a long putt for us.”

The Cowboys can afford Davante Adams' contract for this season, but keeping him beyond this season would have been challenging. As a result, the team is prioritizing its draft assets rather than trading them away to acquire Adams on a rental basis.
If Adams gets traded to a team on the trade deadline, he will count only $8.6 million against the team's salary cap. He still has two years left on his five-year $140 million deal, but he is due to be paid a non-guaranteed amount of $36.25 million each of the next two years. As a result, a team can trade for the star receiver and part ways with him after the season without taking any dead-cap hit.
Davante Adams landing spots
Reports indicate that Davante Adams has two preferred landing spots, i.e., the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints.
Adams is trying to play on a team whose quarterback he is already familiar with. The Raiders are seeking a draft package consisting of a second-round pick and other draft capital for him.
The belief around the league is that Adams will get traded to the Jets, where he would reunite with Aaron Rodgers. The Jets already have Garrett Wilson but need another star receiver to alleviate the pressure and defensive attention on him.
Adams is currently out with a hamstring injury and is unlikely to play again for the Raiders. The NFL trade deadline is on November 4th.
