Cooper Rush's performance on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals was an eye-opener for fans still on the fence about the Dallas Cowboys quarterback. A red zone interception and a series of missed passes on the final series sealed the deal for the Cowboys.

With the franchise's hopes for a .500 season on life support, some fans have called for a new face to give the team a shot of adrenaline. Jerry Jones made his thoughts known on 105.3 The Fan about whether a turn to Trey Lance would be appropriate. Lance signed a four-year, $34.1 million contract with the 49ers when he was drafted in 2021.

"I don't think so. I thought we did some good things out there. I still believe (Cooper Rush) gives us our best chance. ... Wins are important for us. This is a young team," Jones said on Tuesday.

It's fair to say this isn't an old team, but veterans are entering their most productive years at key positions on the offensive side of the ball. CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons have been around the block a few times, but not so much that they're in the final moments of their careers.

The pressure is on to deliver a memorable final month of the season before all 53 players are put back on the shelf for eight months.

Trey Lance's time might be winding down with Dallas. His contract with the Cowboys expires at the end of the season. Some believe Lance was signed for a few reasons: from pressuring Dak Prescott in salary negotiations to serving as a project QB for Mike McCarthy.

However, with McCarthy's future also up in the air, Lance's time with the team could end at the same time as his coach. Of course, there's still plenty of time to sign them to new deals. If Jerry Jones' last-second negotiations with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb in September serve as any indication, the general manager could wait until the 11th hour to get anything done.

Either way, Jones' comments on Lance set an ominous tone for his future with the team heading into 2025.
