Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is hoping the NFL makes Christmas Day games a more regular occurrence. The NFL had two games on Christmas, despite it being a Wednesday.

Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday and said regardless of what day Christmas lands on he wants the NFL to have games.

“Christmas Day is Christmas Day, and it doesn’t wait around for what day it’s on. We want to be there on Christmas Day,” Jones said during the radio interview, via New York Post. "I would think the future is whatever day it’s on, we’re going to be there on Christmas.”

The NFL landed a $150 million broadcast deal with Netflix for the two Christmas games, so it adds some more revenue to the NFL.

Christmas Day will fall on Thursday in 2025 allowing the NFL to likely continue to have games on the Holiday.

However, one former NFL player Ben Roethlisberger was not happy that the NFL was having games on Christmas Day.

“It’s miserable,” Roethlisberger said on his “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger” podcast. “It’s a shame that the league does this. It just shows that it’s all about money and this is a way that they can make more money and figure this thing out because it’s not fair for the players.”

But, with Christmas Day being on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday in the next four years, it seems likely the NFL will continue to have Christmas Day games.

Jerry Jones open to extending Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy

The Dallas Cowboys won't be in the playoffs in 2024, but Jerry Jones is pleased with the job coach Mike McCarthy has done.

The Cowboys have had plenty of injuries, so Jones says he has talked to McCarthy about his future, as the coach is in the final year of his deal.

"We're just talking about what is positive right now," Jones said, via ESPN. "We started the conversation talking about how good a job I think with the circumstances that we've been dealing with, how good a job that the coaching staff is doing. It's led by Mike McCarthy. And that's what we're doing.
"I'm saying just what I'm saying. I'm very impressed with how this team and how it's playing, and the level of tenacity, and I'm impressed with the fact we've got a lot of young players getting a lot of experience out there. The future looks bright there with those players."

The Cowboys are 7-8 and coming off an upset win over Tampa Bay. Dallas will return to the field on Sunday on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.
