Cowboys trade rumors: Dak Prescott to get $140,000,000 WR's help in 2025, predicts NFL analyst

With the 2024 regular season over, speculation is mounting about teams that did not make the playoffs and Dak Prescott's Cowboys are certainly part of that equation. Dallas is looking ahead to wholesale changes in the offseason with a new head coach now on the agenda after they decided not to bring back Mike McCarthy.

However, the one constant they have is their quarterback. Dak Prescott is the highest-paid player in the league and is slated to remain their starter in 2025. One person who could do well with a settled player in that position is current Jets receiver Davante Adams. Bleacher Report's Maurice Moton certainly thinks so.

The wideout has been unsettled ever since he moved from Green Bay. He linked up with his former college quarterback Derek Carr in Las Vegas only for the Raiders to trade him to New Orleans. That is when he sought comfort in linking up with Aaron Rodgers, his quarterback with the Packers. However, the Jets' season did not go as planned and there is speculation that the four-time MVP might not return to New York in 2025.

One option for Davante Adams could be to look at the Saints, especially if Mike McCarthy is hired as the head coach. He will link up with his first NFL head coach in addition to Carr as his quarterback again. However, New Orleans is already over the salary cap and it does not seem likely that they can rework the wide receiver's $140 million contract.

That is where Maurice Moton suggests that he could look at the Cowboys. They have a confirmed starter as their quarterback. The team needs a wideout who can stretch plays outside CeeDee Lamb, and there is a possibility that such a splashy signing could appeal to Jerry Jones. Adams' contract would need to be reworked but that is anyhow on the cards because he is not slated to receive any guaranteed money for the next two years on his current deal.

While Moton makes some great points, social media observers pointed out that many Packers' fans are pining for his return to Green Bay. If he considers that, he will play under Matt LaFleur again. Even though the quarterback would be different, the coaching system is one he is familiar with.

That familiarity could appeal to him more than going to the Cowboys and playing with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott.
