Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets have resembled more of a circus than a football team this year. There have been leaked reports of discord between ownership and coaching and rumors of security escorting former coach Robert Saleh out of the building.

Franchise owner Woody Johnson flew in on a helicopter to fire Joe Douglas in the middle of practice (after asking coaching to considering benching Aaron Rodgers), meaning there has been no shortage of headlines for the franchise.

There was some hope that they would put all this behind them in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks. Despite starting with two touchdowns, the Jets fell apart late in the game, suffering their ninth loss of the season.

After the game, former Jets safety Victor Green took to X to vent his frustrations as the Jets registered their ninth straight losing season, the longest active streak in the NFL. Green wrote:

"I’m really beginning to think the Jets are cursed. I don’t know what else to make of it. All the talent offensively, Hall of Fame quarterback. Talented defense. Crazy exhausting for us fans."

Green also drew attention to how players who were previously on the Jets have prospered since leaving the franchise, name-dropping the likes of Sam Darnold and Geno Smith .

Aaron Rodgers and New York Jets' coaching job among NFL's most coveted

Last year, the Jets signed Aaron Rodgers to a deal that includes $75 million guaranteed. At this point, it would be fair to say that they haven't had their money's worth of production on the field from the future Hall of Famer.

There have been several reports detailing how the franchise is leaning towards parting ways with the four-time MVP in the offseason. Rodgers himself has gone on record to say that he isn't sure his future belongs in the Big Apple.

According to Spotract, the Jets would incur a dead-cap hit of $49 million if they cut Rodgers, a figure that will be split between 2024 and 2025. He also has a no-trade clause in his contract, further complicating matters.

On the off chance that the Jets maneuver through the Aaron Rodgers situation, the coach job could very well be the most coveted one in the league, given how much young talent they have across the board.

All of Garrett Wilson (24), Breece Hall (23), Olu Fashanu (22), Alijah Vera-Tucker (25), Sauce Gardner (24) and Will McDonald IV (25) are on the roster. The Jets are also projected to have a top-7 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
