D. J. Reed blasts NFL referees for continuation of bad calls Jets vs. Seahawks game - "You FXCKING suck"

The New York Jets remain on their spiral of losses. On Sunday, the team once again complicated themselves in the fourth quarter, suffering a comeback loss to the Seattle Seahawks by 26-21, their eighth defeat in nine games. They're half a game away from being eliminated from playoff contention.

The theme of the game were penalties, especially from New York's side. They had 12 flags thrown against them, losing 83 yards in the process. Penalties also negated important defensive plays, such as a fourth-down stop negated by a horse-collar tackle or a neutral zone infraction called on a third down.

Those penalties infuriated Jets players, who are already dealing with a nightmare season. One of those guys who did not hold back was cornerback D.J. Reed, who took to Twitter to criticize the referees after the game ended. Reed didn't mince words in his critics:

After putting 14-0 and 21-7 leads on the scoreboard, the Jets couldn't hang on once again, losing a game where they dominated for a long time. This has been the theme of the season, which has already seen head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas fired before the end of the year.

D.J. Reed's career: Cornerback was a late bloomer with the Jets

Even though he's not a household name in the league, he has established himself as a starter cornerback in the league. New York has had Sauce Gardner as their main star, but Reed, who signed as a free agent in the same year, has also been a productive player.

He was a fifth-round pick in 2018 and spent two years with the San Francisco 49ers. He also spent two more years with the Seattle Seahawks, where his career took over, before signing a three-year, $33 million contract with the Jets in 2022.

He has been a regular starter for New York ever since, noting 29 passes defended since the start of the 2022 regular season. He has had six interceptions throughout his career and four forced fumbles. He's set to become a free agent after the end of the 2024 season.
