Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has addressed the recent theft from his fiancée's car. He emphasized the need to protect his family while downplaying connections to other high-profile athlete robberies.
The incident occurred on Dec. 26, when Sarah Jane Ramos lost nearly $40,000 of property. The stolen items included designer handbags, wallets and computer software from her car during a Pilates class in Dallas.
Speaking to reporters at "The Star in Frisco" on Wednesday, Dak Prescott separated this incident from the recent string of burglaries targeting professional athletes nationwide.
"I don't want anyone to tie that in with other things that have been happening, her car got broken into at Pilates in Dallas. Who knows how many times that happens a day," said Prescott. "As far as the other (burglaries), I'm gonna take every step necessary I can to ensure safety and that that doesn't happen to me."

The theft comes amid growing security concerns for professional athletes. The FBI recently warned sports leagues about organized crime groups targeting players' homes. Notable victims include Luka Doncic, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and other prominent athletes.
Dak Prescott weighs his situation
Dak Prescott, who signed a record-breaking $240 million contract extension in September, spoke candidly about the drawbacks of his high-profile status:
"You weigh the good with the bad," Prescott reflected. "Others can look up and just see how much we make or maybe an address and that puts us subject to a target. For me and my teammates, I think for anybody across the league or anybody of celebrity status, it's unfortunate but we have to take and do what's necessary to protect us and our family."
A Dallas Police Department report revealed that Ramos "forgot to lock her door," according to WFAA TV. Despite the circumstances, Prescott maintained his focus on protecting his 10-month-old daughter and fiancée.
The 2024 season has brought mixed fortunes for Dak Prescott. Before a season-ending hamstring injury in November, he completed 185-of-286 passes for 1,978 yards. His 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions across eight games highlighted both potential and challenges.
