Dak Prescott is entering what might be the most important season of his career. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback is entering the final campaign of his four-year, $160 million deal signed in 2021, and although there's no doubt that Prescott is a top-tier quarterback, his playoff performances left much to be desired in recent years.
Trying to earn a new deal makes this a huge season for the quarterback, but the quarterback sent the fanbase into a frenzy during the holiday. He was spotted wearing a boot on his right ankle, leading to many speculations about what had happened with him so close to training camp.
But the quarterback's issues seem to be nothing more than just a precautionary measure. At least that's what Dak Prescott told the Star-Telegram on Thursday via text message regarding the use of the boot, telling them that "he was great" and that "the last time he went deep swimming the ankle got swollen."

The Cowboys are set to start their training camp on July 25 in Oxnard, where they commonly hold their camp. Apart from Prescott, another player who's looking for a new deal is CeeDee Lamb - Micah Parsons is also eligible for a contract extension.
Dak Prescott's salary
He has a base salary of $29 million for 2024 while holding a cap hit of $55.45 million, the highest on the Cowboys' roster and the second-highest in the entire league for 2024. Money isn't the real question for the fans, though.
Dak Prescott has played in seven playoff games, winning two and losing five. His most recent postseason game was against the Green Bay Packers when the Cowboys suffered a major upset during the 2023 wild card round in the NFC and had to endure another season without winning a ring.
That's the biggest problem with Prescott, according to his doubters: his lack of playoff success. The quarterback plays at a high level, but once the lights get brighter, his level diminishes. If he wants to earn top-of-the-market money with just two playoff wins in eight seasons, he'll be disappointed with the team.
The team might be looking to pay him around the $50 million mark this time, but the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is certainly looking to earn around the $55 million that Trevor Lawrence received in recent negotiations. Whether the sides can bridge that gap remains to be seen.
