For the first time in what feels like forever, the Carolina Panthers were favored in a contest against the Dallas Cowboys, given the state of 'America's Team.' The Cowboys have had to suffer through major injuries for most of the year, failing to find any rhythm with the likes of Dak Prescott, DaRon Bland, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs all missing time at some point of the season.

Over on the Panthers' side of things, between being benched and restored to the lineup, Bryce Young has galvanized the franchise. In their last three losses, they ran the Chiefs, Bucs and Eagles close, offering some hope that rookie head coach Dave Canales is on the right path.

Dallas Cowboys vs Carolina Panthers box score

The first quarter didn't exactly give fans something to cheer about. Cooper Rush went 1-of-3 for eight yards while Bryce Young went 7-of-8 for 42 yards. The Panthers got Chubba Hubbard involved early on but there was little else to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

A 14-yard Cooper Rush throw to CeeDee Lamb put the Cowboys on the board before Brandon Aubrey pushed that lead to 7-0.

With six minutes left in the second, Bryce Young's throw to Adam Thielen was intercepted as the Cowboys regained possession and momentum. That drive stopped short as Aubrey converted a 52-yarder to extend Dallas's lead to 10-0. An 82-yard pass to Jalen Coker pulled the Panthers within field-goal range with the second half left to play.

From there, the Cowboys were comfortable. Another TD pass, this time to Jalen Tolbert saw the Cowboys go up 17-7. Rush added another TD to his tally, ending the night with 214 yards and three touchdowns. Bryce Young, on the other hand, struggled to stamp his authority on the game.

We finally saw some shades of what Mike Zimmer wanted to do with this Dallas defense as they kept the former No. 1 overall pick in check to wrap up their sixth win of the season.

The Cowboys' next game will see them take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16 whereas the Panthers will face the Arizona Cardinals next week.
