Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions closed out the regular season in excellent fashion. In the most important game before the playoffs, the Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-9, officially clinching the NFC North, and plenty of other prizes, with the victory.
This game had a huge meaning. Both teams had a 14-2 record, and the division was up for grabs. However, winning the battle also meant that the Lions finished the regular season with the first seed in the NFC, which gave them a bye in the Wild Card Round and also the home-field advantage during the NFC playoffs.
After the game, Campbell and Kevin O'Connell, the Vikings' head coach, met for the traditional handshake in the middle of the field. But a subtle message from Campbell caught the attention of the cameras: the head coach was filmed saying to O'Connell "I'll see you again in two weeks".

The Vikings, the greatest Wild Card team of all-time based on the 14-3 standings, will start their playoff run away from home, facing the Los Angeles Rams. If they win, along with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers confirming their favoritism, the Divisional Round would see a new contest between the Lions and the Vikings.
The two teams could also meet in the NFC Championship Game, but it would take an upset in the Wild Card Round to make it happen.
Dan Campbell has an excellent record against Kevin O'Connell
Both head coaches are still fairly young on their jobs, with Campbell joining the Lions in 2021 and O'Connell taking charge of the Vikings a year later. Since then, they have played against each other six times, all in the regular season.
The Lions' leader has got the best of his counterpart. He has won five of these games consecutively after losing their first battle in Week 3 of the 2022 season. He's also undefeated against O'Connell when the two teams played in Ford Field.
A new playoff encounter would mean that the game would be played in Detroit. While the Vikings had an excellent 14-3 record, two of those losses came against the Lions. It's fair to imagine that Jared Goff's team would be confident if they play Minnesota again.
