A few weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers left the door open for a return to the New York Jets in the 2025 season. Even though the 2024 season was a disappointment, the quarterback publicly spoke about a possible comeback depending on who would become the Jets' head coach and general manager.
Aaron Glenn's hiring seems to be a step in the right direction. Glenn, the former defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, was one of the most coveted head coach prospects in the 2025 coaching carousel. He's a former Jets player and already has a relationship with owner Woody Johnson.
ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky weighed in on Glenn's hiring on Wednesday and claimed the Jets should at least consider the possibility of bringing Aaron Rodgers back as their 2025 starter.
"Well, I think they have to entertain Aaron Rodgers, and that's a little bit dependent on who the head coach is, but Aaron, the last seven or eight weeks of the season, did play winning football after he got healthy," Orlovsky said. "So, you know, they're not in a situation where they're going to draft somebody early on.

"But you also have to have a plan for the future, so even if you decide 'We want Aaron back', you do have to entertain some young quarterback relatively early in the draft, so that you can at least say 'This young man has got some potential, and he's not ready to play right now', but the development of their future and their future guy has to be a big deal."
Rodgers had to play against Glenn's defenses four times between 2021 and 2022 as the quarterback played for the Green Bay Packers who are in the same division as the Lions in the NFC North.
What's Aaron Rodgers' salary in the 2025 season?
According to Spotrac, Aaron Rodgers will have a base salary of $2.5 million, but this low number is a reflection of many void years and contract restructures.
The number that really matters is his cap hit, and he's going to count $23.5 million against the salary cap in 2025. This is the final year of the three-year deal he signed with the franchise after the 2023 trade; the veteran quarterback only played in 2024 after he suffered an Achilles tear in the first game of the 2023 season.
