The Daniel Jones sweepstakes is heating up as several teams are reportedly interested in signing the quarterback following his release from the New York Giants last week.
The Las Vegas Raiders emerged as contenders to land the 27-year-old signal caller after quarterback Gardner Minshew broke his left collarbone in his team's Week 12 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Tom Brady's Raiders need a starting quarterback and Jones could have filled that role. However, he's passing on that opportunity. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the former Giants star isn't interested in a move to Las Vegas and hopes to join a Super Bowl contender.

"Despite interest from the #Raiders, free agent QB Daniel Jones has eliminated Las Vegas from his consideration (contrary to other reports). The former #Giants’ QB is weighing substantial interest from multiple playoff teams, and wants to join a postseason contender." - Jordan Schultz on X.
Daniel Jones landing spot: The best option for QB
Daniel Jones has been linked with a slew of teams since his release from the Giants, but none has emerged as the frontrunner to land the quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys were among the first names thrown around as a potential landing spot. However, the team's executive vice president, Stephen Jones, has already shot down the possibility of signing him.
The Minnesota Vikings are another potential landing spot for Jones. Quarterback Sam Darnold has been inconsistent and backups Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien are dependable but not as experienced or accomplished as the former Giants star.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was asked about the team potentially signing Jones during his media availability on Monday. He said:
“I really can’t get into too much about any short-term or long-term. I can just say that I’ve been a big fan of Daniel’s for a long time and I hope wherever his next step takes him, it’s a good opportunity for him.”
The Vikings are 9-2 and have the talent on offense to embark on a deep playoff run. Adding Jones to the roster on a short-term deal as insurance in case Darnold's form dips or if he suffers an injury could be a win-win scenario for both sides.
It remains to be seen whether Minnesota pulls the trigger and signs the veteran quarterback.
