Daniel Jones recently spoke about his lackluster Week 1. Jones completed 22 of 42 passes for 186 yards and two interceptions. Following his team's 28-6 loss to Minnesota, NYG fans booed him off the field.
It was a frustrating day for Jones, who enters a pivotal year to prove his franchise quarterback status. However, after the Week 1 backlash, Jones said he's only worried about pleasing his locker room, not the fans.
“I’ve said a number of times I’m concerned about the people in this building, and I think I’ve got plenty of help, plenty of good coaching, plenty of good teammates to work with here.
“That’s what I’m focused on. I’ve got people I trust, who I have relationships with, who can help me out. But in terms of other people and what they have to say or what they think from their perspective and what their observations are, it’s really not very important to me.”

Although Jones says he's focused on the people inside his building, Giants fans have made it clear they no longer want him as their quarterback. If the fans continue to boo him, their reaction may force New Yorks's hand to find a new QB1.
Jones and the Giants look to rebound on the road in Week 2 when they face the Washington Commanders.
Giants have an out in Daniel Jones' contract in 2025
Daniel Jones signed a signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Giants in 2023. The deal includes $35 million in additional incentives, including $82 million over the first two years.
With New York frontloading the contract, the franchise can break its deal after this season with just $22.2 million in dead cap. If Jones doesn't turn around his season, New York will likely cut the quarterback and draft a replacement signal caller this spring.
Jones was selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft by New York out of Duke.
During his NFL career, Jones has a 22-37-1 record while throwing for 12,698 yards, 75 touchdowns and 42 interceptions. However, in 2023 and through one game in 2024, Jones has thrown just two touchdowns compared to eight interceptions.
