Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders before the 2022 NFL season. He previously played with Aaron Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers, where the two formed a dynamic duo. Their partnership resulted in multiple All-Pro selections for Adams and NFL MVP Awards for Rodgers.

The superstar wide receiver infamously said, "a quarterback doesn't make me — I make me," in the same year that he was traded. Many around the NFL took this as a subtle shot at Rodgers. Adams recently clarified what he meant on "Speak":

"Everybody thought that maybe I was just a product of Aaron Rodgers. But that was just me saying I'm absolutely not that. I'm my own player, I'm a generational talent, and I take a tremendous amount of pride in what I do."

Davante Adams insisted that his comments from 2022 had nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers in particular. He was instead praising his own abilities, implying that he would be a superstar wide receiver regardless of who his quarterback was.

In his final four years with the Packers, Adams was among the most productive players at his position. In three seasons, he exceeded 110 receptions for 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was the clear focal point for Rodgers' passing game and consistently dominated.

Many around the NFL wondered how Adams' production would be affected when he departed Green Bay for the Raiders. He had an opportunity to prove that his comments were accurate, and he has done exactly that in two seasons without Rodgers.

In his first season without Aaron Rodgers as his primary quarterback, Davante Adams joined Derek Carr, who he played college football with, on the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams turned in another strong season, recording 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns. This includes the second-highest yardage and touchdown totals of his entire career.

In Year 2, Adams had to play without Carr, who departed Las Vegas for the New Orleans Saints. Despite suffering through some of the worst quarterback play in the NFL, he again proved that he's not a product of any particular quarterback. He recorded 103 receptions for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns in a relatively poor offensive system last year.
