With Week 18 wrapped up, Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and the New York Jets can close the book on a wasted season. It's safe to say that a lot more was expected of the Jets, especially after they pulled the trigger and traded for Adams. Alas, the season ended with a whimper despite a 32-20 win over the Miami Dolphins.
The only silver lining was that Rodgers threw his 500th TD, becoming the fifth quarterback to achieve the feat alongside Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508).
Attention will now turn to what decisions the Jets make for next season. They have already started the process of lining up interviews, prioritizing head coaching experience in most of their candidates. There are also question marks around the futures of Rodgers, Adams and even Garrett Wilson, who has been vocal about his frustrations over the last few weeks.
On Monday, Adams was asked about his thoughts on the future of the franchise, and if he would consider returning to the Jets if Aaron Rodgers wasn't on the roster.

“Potentially," Adams said. "It would have to depend on everything.”
If Adams is on the books next year, the Jets would owe him $35.64 million. The Jets could still negotiate and redo his deal for the next two years, but Adams could also turn down any offers to return to the negotiation table, forcing the team to release him before free agency begins on March 12. In essence, the All-Pro wide receiver will be the judge of his own fate for next season.
Full list of candidates Jets have interviewed for HC role
So far, the Jets have completed interviews with former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and Rex Ryan, who formerly coached the Jets.
The franchise has also requested interviews with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and QB coach Josh McCown.
Buffalo Bills OC Joe Brady, Kansas City Chiefs OC Matt Nagy, Pittsburgh Steelers OC Arthur Smith, Detroit Lions DC Aaron Glenn, Denver Broncos DC Vance Joseph and Houston Texans OC Bobby Slowik are also expected to interview with the Jets in the coming weeks.
Jets fans were hopeful Mike Vrabel would coach the team next season. However, with the New England Patriots firing Jerod Mayo on Black Monday eve, the former Titans head coach is now poised to take over in Foxboro, per multiple reports.
The Jets have also been linked with Washington Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury, who previously coached the Arizona Cardinals.
