New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams explained why he couldn't team up with rookie sensation Jayden Daniels on the Washington Commanders. After a disappointing season with the Jets, Adams could leave MetLife Stadium and look for a new challenge in the NFL.

Nevertheless, while talking with Kay Adams on Tuesday's edition of "Up & Adams," the veteran shared a major obstacle that would hurt a potential arrival to Northwest Stadium.

"I would have to give up my number (17), though, and I don't know if I could do that," Adams said.

The wide receiver wears No. 17, which appears to be a deal-breaker for Adams. The Washington Commanders are arguably the hottest team in the NFL right now after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round and the Detroit Lions in the divisional round.

Led by Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin, the capital team dismantled the NFC No.1 seed 45–31, with McLaurin catching four passes for 87 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Whether the season ends on Sunday or not, they know they must cash in on Daniels' rookie deal and bring in the right pieces for the Commanders to compete for more years. It's unclear if Davante Adams is on their radar, but the veteran wideout has already ruled out that possibility.

After being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders, Adams instantly became a key piece for the New York Jets. He caught 85 passes for 1,063 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. The Jets only won five games with Adams and Aaron Rodgers as their leaders and now their futures appear to be away from the Jets.

Davante Adams compares Jayden Daniels to Jordan Love

Davante Adams shared his thoughts on Jayden Daniels and his traits on the field. The veteran says Daniels reminds him of Jordan Daniels regarding how they play without apparent pressure.

“He reminds me a lot of, just the temperament, the calmness, the smoothness out there, he’s a lot like Jordan Love," Adams said. "You never see him get worked up. He may put a ball out a little too far, somebody may not come down with it. Which doesn’t happen too much but if it does, you can just feel it’s like a veteran feel back there."

Daniels and the Commanders are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in the 2024 NFC championship game.
