Davante Adams tempted by former teammate into returning back to Green Bay Packers

2024 will mark three seasons since Davante Adams last caught a pass for the Green Bay Packers. After so much time between the two, many believe a reunion between the team and Adams is unlikely. However, a recent development has given reason to give life to the idea.

According to a post made by Packers insider Matt Schneidman on Twitter/X on May 29th, the new running back of the Packers, Josh Jacobs, allegedly had a back-and-forth with Adams. In the conversation, he asked the wide receiver if he was considering a return.

"When I came out here ... I sent him the little eyes emoji. I said, ‘You thinking about coming back?’ But man, he loved it," Jacobs said.

The final phrase could be interpreted in several ways, with different meanings behind the response. One interpretation could mean that Adams said, "I love it." Another interpretation could mean that the wide receiver gave another response that Jacobs surmised meant he loved the idea.

One more translation could mean that instead of liking the message with a thumbs up, he "hearted" the message. If he merely "hearted it," the translation would mean that he liked the idea but not enough to act on it.

In other words, there is a reason to hope but until the wide receiver takes action or a statement is made, the hint might be as close to a reunion as things get.

Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs will continue to text each other in 2024, but why? The answer is that both players worked together on the same team in 2022 and 2023. Adams worked out wide, spreading out the secondary. Jacobs took advantage of that to rush for big gains.

As such, with both players working on offense in a way that one player would benefit the other, it was seemingly only a matter of time until the two players developed a friendship.

With Jacobs and Adams now separated, Adams has at least one motive to desire to rejoin the Packers. Of course, this sets up a potentially difficult decision for the wide receiver when his next opportunity to enter the market arrives.

He would potentially be able to choose between a reunion with Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets or a reunion with Jacobs and the Green Bay Packers.

According to Spotrac, Davante Adams' exit could save the team money as soon as this offseason. This would set the stage for a potential choice shortly, depending on how the 2024 season shakes out.
