Davante Adams trade rumors: Cowboys' Mike McCarthy delivers verdict on Raiders WR's potential move

As soon as Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, rumors about his potential destinations started coming. The New York Jets have always been linked with him since Aaron Rodgers joined the team last season, but more franchises could take a swing at him before the trade deadline strikes.

The Dallas Cowboys have been linked with Adams, who would reunite with former coach Mike McCarthy. The former Green Bay Packers coach shared his thoughts on this possibility, downplaying a potential reunion.

“Player acquisition is something that always goes on. And I’ve never gotten in the habit of talking about players on other teams because I don’t know if anything good that comes out of that.

“Personally, I have tremendous love and respect for Davante. I got a chance to see him up there in Vegas (for the Cowboys vs. Raiders preseason game). Don’t really know exactly what’s going on there. But we do feel very confident with our receiver room.”

Adams formed a terrific tandem with Rodgers at Lambeau Field, getting 669 receptions for 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns in 116 games. He's not the same player he was in his years with the Packers, but Adams proved he's still valuable.

The Cowboys have a clear WR1 in CeeDee Lamb and a decent supporting cast in Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks and Ryan Flournoy. Even though the Cowboys have struggled to start the season, it doesn't seem like Adams is the answer to their issues.

Four teams reportedly interested in landing Davante Adams

While the Cowboys can be ruled out of this race, four teams are reportedly paying close attention to this situation and showing the most interest in Adams. According to Sportskeeda's NFL insider Tony Pauline, the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints are the most interested in acquiring Davante Adams' services.

Once again, a potential reunion with former teammate Aaron Rodgers appears to be a strong possibility. Adams and Rodgers have been in communication and the Jets quarterback is 'lobbying' to get Adam to MetLife Stadium as soon as possible.

The Raiders would be asking for a second-round pick to part with Adams but whichever team sends a first-rounder is believed to be the eventual winner. In 37 games with the Raiders, Adams has 221 catches for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns.
