Dave Portnoy was not happy with the Bills' defense in the AFC Championship game against the Chiefs after Patrick Mahomes shredded Buffalo's defense in the first half. It looked like Kansas City could score at will and did so three times before the break to take a 21-10 lead. The only time the Bills' defensive unit got something going was when the Chiefs' quarterback fumbled the ball and turned it over.

Dave Portnoy fired off three quick posts on X/Twitter expressing his displeasure about how the proceedings were going. In one of them, he said that Josh Allen and his offense would need to score 60 points because his defense is atrocious. He wrote,

"The Bills defense is ATROCIOUS. Gonna have to score 60."

Dave Portnoy further qualified his comments by saying that the Bills' offense would need a miracle to win the game because they were not getting any help on the other side of the ball. The Barstool President said,

"It will take an absolute miracle for the Bills to win this game with their defense. They are helpless. Totally helpless"

Dave Portnoy followed that up by saying that if Buffalo had any chance to win the game it would have to come down to Josh Allen being absolutely perfect with his play. Forecasting a blowout for Kansas City otherwise, he added,

"This game is over. Josh can’t miss any passes. He has to be better than perfect. This one is gonna get ugly."

Bills defense gets no sympathy from Dave Portnoy despite Christian Benford's injury vs. Chiefs

The Bills defense was always going to struggle against the high-powered Chiefs' offense in the AFC Championship. Whether it was the victory against the Lions or the defeat against the Rams in the regular season, it was clear that it was down to Josh Allen on whether they would win or lose the game.

It was not helped by Christian Benford's injury during the first half. The cornerback had recently cleared concussion protocol but looked unsettled after a hit on the head. He was taken off and it further weakened their secondary.

However, Dave Portnoy was not happy with their performance as a unit and it was hard to argue with him given how the game was going. Even Buffalo's special teams were not up for it as they gave up a huge punt return in the first half to set up one of Kansas City's touchdowns.
