San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is dealing with a wrist injury sustained during the team's comfortable win over the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday.
Samuel was seen shaking his arm after a play but stayed in the game and didn't seek any treatment. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan says he wasn't aware Samuel had been dealing with any injury.
“We didn’t know during the game. Found out the next day,” coach Kyle Shanahan said, via NBC Sports.
In the win against Seattle, Samuel recorded three receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown. Samuel added 15 rushing yards on 4 carries.
When will Deebo Samuel return?
Deebo Samuel has been a limited participant in practice but all signs point to him playing against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Although Samuel has only been a limited participant, he did finish the Seahawks game with the injury which is a good sign that he can play through it.
Samuel is a key member of the 49ers offense and could have a bigger role as receiver Jauan Jennings didn't practice and his status for Sunday is up in the air.
But, rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was a full participant and could be activated and play against the Chiefs.
“Everyone was excited for him to be out [there],” Shanahan said via NBC Sports. “We just had walk-through today, but Monday was our first day back with him, and we let him break the team down. He was excited.
"We didn’t do much. We just had one two-minute drill. He was out of breath from it, so we were messing with him, trying to get him to talk right away. It was more just because he was so excited to be out there, but it was a good first day and pumped to see him out there this afternoon.”
This season, Samuel has recorded 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, while he's added 19 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown.
