Pittsburgh Steelers fans were left fuming after learning about Steelers owner Art Rooney II's plans for Mike Tomlin's future. After another disappointing first-round exit, the Steelers are reportedly not planning to move on from Tomlin.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Sunday that Tomlin's job is safe despite the way the 2024 NFL season ended for a team that looked like a serious candidate to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs at some point.

"Steelers don't plan to move on from Mike Tomlin," Dulac wrote on X.

Plenty of fans were not happy about this decision and took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disagreement with the team's plans. Some comments were directly aimed at Art Rooney II for supporting Tomlin.

"More of the same. Art is a coward," one fan said.
"Art is the problem," another fan said.
"If you are talking about complacency, how is Art Rooney II any different than Bob Nutting?" another fan wrote.

Others called the decision "insane" and tried to start a campaign to put pressure on Rooney and Tomlin for the 2025 NFL season.

"Definition of insanity right there," one fan said.
"Gonna need to make every home game hell for him. Fire Tomlin chants start in preseason," another fan wrote.

Art Rooney II keeps supporting Mike Tomlin despite saying he was running out of patience after last season

Last year, Art Rooney II sent a clear message to Mike Tomlin and his players, saying he was running out of patience and was looking to see some playoff wins from the Steelers.

“We’ve had enough of this,” Rooney said in his end-of-season press conference last year. “It’s time to get some wins; it’s time to take these next steps.”

He was confident that Tomlin was the man for the job after confirming that players were still married to his ideas.

“The players still respond to Mike, and that’s No. 1,” Rooney said. "He still has the key characteristics that we saw when we hired him. He can keep the attention of a group of 20-year-olds for a whole season and keep them in the fight for the whole way.”
