Jerry Jones' Cowboys are in the hunt for a new head coach after letting Mike McCarthy leave and Deion Sanders is emerging as an early favorite. The current Colorado coach had an illustrious career, including a successful stint in Dallas. He has revitalized college programs such as Jackson State and the current program.

Now, Prime Time, or Coach Prime as he is known now, has confirmed that Jerry Jones has reached out to him. He remained non-committal in confirming the interest, saying that the approach from the Cowboys was 'intriguing' but also said that he really enjoys being where he is now. As reported by NFL Insider Adam Schefter initially, Deion Sanders said:

“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

Could Deion Sanders turn down Jerry Jones' approach for Cowboys HC?

Nothing is confirmed yet but the interest seems firm enough at this point to put Deion Sanders among the coaching contenders for the Cowboys coaching job. However, the former NFL star once said that he is not interested in coaching in professional football except if his sons are playing on the team.

Shedeur Sanders, who has flourished under his father's tutelage, is widely expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Titans could choose to go with him with the first pick if they decide they need a new starting quarterback and evaluate him highly enough. The Giants also have a need to fill in that position. However, none of these places have a coaching vacancy.

On the other hand, if his son fell to the Raiders, who both need a quarterback and have an opening for a head coach, that might be something that entices Deion Sanders. Las Vegas currently is in the sixth spot in the 2025 NFL Draft. In that case, based on his past comments, we would expect Coach Prime to consider joining the AFC West team and spurning Jerry Jones' advances.

However, that is pure conjecture at the moment based on what he has said before and we cannot be certain of his coaching moves until later in the offseason. It also remains to be seen if anyone other than Jerry Jones calls Deion Sanders because the latter does not have any NFL coaching experience to bank on.
