New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr, who enters Year 11 of his NFL career, would watch his older brother, David, play in the NFL as a teenager. David Carr, the first-overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, is 11 years older than Derek.

Derek Carr idolized his older brother growing up and wanted to follow in his footsteps playing football. However, it was tough for him to watch his brother get hit growing up.

On Wednesday, Derek Carr opened up on Pardon My Take about the family's concerns while watching David get sacked on live television.

"The hardest part for me was I didn't understand the why yet because I'm just 15-16 years old," Derek Carr said, "I'm sitting there watching it I don't know what the protection is, I don't know what's going on. And the hardest part was watching my mom, my grandma and his wife.

"That was the hardest part for me we have a close family, we all love each other so dearly and deeply."
"So, I felt like their emotions you know watching his wife go through I'm like, ‘Golly she's a nervous wreck every game.’ Because of ‘Is he going to be okay after this?’ It wasn't, ‘Are we going to win it?’ It was like, ‘I just want him to be intact.’"
