Baltimore Ravens' running back Derrick Henry has been named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 10. The 30-year-old was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the community, particularly his generous act of providing 465 winter coats to the children of Curtis Bay Elementary School in Baltimore.

"It's an honor to be named Community MVP," Henry said. "It's a blessing to be a blessing to others and I'm thankful for the opportunity to help level the playing field for today's youth."

Henry is known for his charitable acts

This isn't Henry's first charitable endeavor at Curtis Bay Elementary. Earlier this year, he donated backpacks and school supplies to 200 students. When asked if there was anything else he could do to help, the school requested winter coats. Henry, true to his word, made sure the students were well-prepared for the upcoming winter.

Since joining the NFL, Henry has been actively involved in various charitable activities through the Two All Foundation, which he started in honor of his grandmother. The foundation has organized numerous events in Henry's hometown of Yulee, Florida, as well as Baltimore and Nashville.

While with the Titans, Henry continued his philanthropic efforts by helping children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee with school supplies and holiday shopping. Even after joinning to the Ravens in 2023, he continued to support the Nashville students with $100 gift cards for shopping.

Additionally, he donated 200 bikes to the children of Yulee last summer. This was followed by Two Alll Carnival which featured kid-friendly activities like face paintings, food trucks, and games.

Henry a potential candidate for Alan Page award

The NFL Players Association, established in 1965, is the union representing professional football players. Its primary goal is to protect the rights and well-being of players, as demonstrated by its efforts in 1989 and beyond. The Community MVP award recognizes players who make significant contributions to their communities.

Henry may receive a $10,000 grant from the NFLPA to donate to his foundation or another charity of his choice. He is also eligible for the Alan Page Community Award next year, which carries a $100,000 prize. Earlier, Alex Highsmith, K.J. Osborn, Jordan Hicks, Alexander Mattison, Nate Wiggins, Ernest Jones IV, Denzel Ward, Demario Davis, and Ray Davis were also named for the award.
