Free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson has stated that he is not retired. The 35-year-old speedster last played for the Los Angeles Rams back in 2021 and is currently without an NFL home.

Jackson was a guest on the I Am Athlete podcast in Philadelphia, which was filmed in front of a live audience. The veteran wide receiver was asked by Adam 'Pacman' Jones if he is retired, given he wasn't in the league at all last year.

Jackson's response was definitive [via Josh Tolentino]:

“Hell nah, I ain’t retired! I’m a free agent, and ready to go.”

With several teams in desperate need of a speedy receiver who can take on the top of the defense, Jackson then listed his two preferred destinations. His old team Philadelphia ranked as his first preference, followed up by the Green Bay Packers with Aaron Rodgers.

Given that the Eagles are currently 5-0, it does not exactly seem like they need the veteran's services. However, over in Green Bay, with an offense that has struggled to get going, Jackson could be utilized by Rodgers to devastating effect.

While it remains to be seen if a team will give the 35-year-old a chance, it's clear he still has the drive to play. Whether a franchise sees it as a risk to bring him in or not is not known, but there are several teams who could do with his services.

DeSean Jackson still a nightmare for defenses

If we ask most defensive coordinators across the league, what is the one thing that scares you, the answer is almost always the same. Speed. That is something that DeSean Jackson has in abundance.

Having played for both the Raiders and Rams in 2021, the receiver's speed was often on show, but it was used sparingly. Ultimately, his time in LA ended up with him being waived, which according to many, was odd.

Now, without a team and according to the man himself, ready to get back into the groove, he has put himself in the shop window.

As mentioned above, several teams could use his skill set. It will make for interesting viewing over the next couple of weeks as to whether the Eagles or Packers decide to make a phone call and enquire about Jackson's services.
