Earlier this week, Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was accused in a sexual assault case, stemming back from Oct. 10, 2020. An unnamed accuser listed as Jane Doe said that Watson came to her apartment and sexually assaulted her.
Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, said that his client intends to interview with the NFL in the next two weeks and that there is "pertinent video" in the lawsuit against Watson. Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot tweeted:
"Attorney Tony Buzbee tells @ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio that his client will be available for an interview with the #NFL in two weeks; he says he has pertinent video to share."

After learning about the interview over the new allegation, fans went in on Watson and the Browns. On top of him playing poorly or not at all over the last few seasons, fans feel Watson has been an off-the-field distraction too:
"(Deshaun) Watson’s a terrible human, but also don’t want the Browns to have an out and be forced to suffer," a fan wrote.
"This is taking an emotional and spiritual toll on me, this team needs to cut him or I’ll be forced to rescind my fandom and support for a club organization I hold dearly to my heart and joy," another fan said.
"This franchise and the city is going to get drug through the mud even more… aren’t they??" a fan questioned.
While some were fed up with Deshaun Watson's allegations, others were not jumping to conclusions. A lot of fans are questioning why the video has to wait two weeks to be released. Fans also questioned why Buzbee hasn't gone to law enforcement with the video evidence.
"I feel like if this video was some bombshell, it would have been released already. But, to say he has a video but everyone has to wait 2 weeks just seems off to me," a fan wrote.
"A pertinent video is available for the NFL four years after the alleged sexual assault, but not for criminal prosecutors. Very peculiar," a fan said.
"Hold up, if you have video proof why not go to the police and press charges, simple," a fan questioned.
The Cleveland Browns could potentially get out of Deshaun Watson's contract
It was very confusing when the Cleveland Browns acquired Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans for a host of draft picks in 2022. The Browns gave up three first-round draft picks and more to acquire Watson. The QB was suspended for most of the 2022 season, and in 2023, he only played six games before injuring his shoulder and missing the rest of the campaign.
Watson has not been worth the five-year, $230 million deal that he signed with the Browns. There is a way, however, that the Browns could get out of Watson's contract.
If Deshaun Watson didn't tell the Browns about this recent allegation, and if they had no prior knowledge of it, it could potentially void the rest of the guaranteed money in his deal. As per Watson's contract (via Pro Football Talk):
“Player hereby represents and warrants (except as otherwise disclosed to club in writing), as of the date hereof, that (1) Player has not been charged with, indicted for, convicted of or pled nolo contendre to any felony and/or misdemeanor involving fraud or moral turpitude.
"(ii) Player has not engaged in conduct which could subject him to a charge, indictment or conviction of any such offense, and (iii) no circumstances exist that would prevent Player’s continuing availability to the Club for duration of this Contract.”
This is a situation to monitor as it unfolds and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
