Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant and current LB, Micah Parsons got into a heated argument on X on Sunday, January 19. It all started when Bryant vented out his disappointment in an X post about how his former team is being run under Jerry Jones.

Dez Bryant said he was tired of “nepotism” and called for a change in the team's culture. He argued it was time for the Cowboys to start winning and for someone new to take charge. His comments were aimed at Jerry Jones, who he feels hasn't built a winning team despite the Cowboys' strong brand.

Dez Bryant wrote:

"From now on, I'll speak my truth about the Cowboys.., whether it's good or bad. Jerry has built a great brand, and now it's time for the team to start winning. It's time for a real culture shift. I'm fed up with all the nepotism..get someone in there who can win games…"

Micah Parsons responded that Dez Bryant’s comments irritate him. He also pointed out that Bryant had the talent to make a difference himself during his stint but never changed the culture.

He tweeted:

"Stuff like this irrates me Dez because you had tenough talent and was Probaly one greatest in your time! You could have changed the culture brother!! You could have changed the culture !"

Dez Bryant didn’t back down and fired back, saying that he did try to change things. He claimed his outspoken attitude helped open doors for players like Parsons to speak freely. He also hinted that he could say more, but kept it respectful, writing:

"I mean, I did.. That's why many of you players are able to speak freely the way you do…If you really read between the lines, you'll know I'm always in protection mode for the player. Trust me, I could say a lot more, but I keep it rated G a lot. It’s no need to be irritated.. facts or facts Micah"

In another tweet, Bryant told Parsons that he made sacrifices so that younger players could succeed. He said the way he spoke to Jerry Jones was very different from how Parsons did, and that Parsons would understand more as he got older.

Dez Bryant added:

"I had to double back because you really said I could have changed the culture and emphasized that, as if you don't know…I was never on the yes-man political a**-kissing shit. I sacrificed myself so a lot of you could do what you do. I'm on some shit that's way deeper than football. You are really too young to understand.
"You'll realize soon you need more people like me who don't give a fuck for the better of the athletes. The way I talked to Jerry vs the way you talk to Jerry is totally different.. Let it sink"

Dez Bryant played with the Cowboys for eight seasons. He earned three Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro honor. However, his time ended in frustration over the team’s lack of playoff success.

Parsons, meanwhile, has already earned multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections in his short career.

Dez Bryant's former team Dallas Cowboys' back-to-back playoff-less season has reached a breaking point

As the NFC Championship continues to elude them, Jerry Jones may be forced to face the truth. The team’s struggles need urgent attention.

In 2024, the season ended in disappointment as the Cowboys finished with a 7-10 record. Injuries were a factor, but ultimately, the Cowboys tailed behind division rivals who are now thriving in the postseason.

Sadly, the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles punched their tickets in playoffs. However, the irony is both these teams are built on former Cowboys talent. Washington is led by former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Kellen Moore, the ex-offensive coordinator is helping the Eagles.

The Cowboys haven’t been to the NFC Championship Game since 1995. This long wait for a championship game appearance is the worst in the NFC and is more than just a sad state. It should be a wake-up call for the Cowboys’ management. The team’s struggles are starting to look embarrassing, not just for the fans, but for the owner, Jerry Jones.

Even though he has turned the Cowboys into the most valuable sports brand, their lack of success on the field doesn’t match that. If Jones truly wants the Cowboys to have a great legacy, this offseason must bring real changes, not just talk.
