Cam Newton drew plenty of attention ahead of the 2022-23 NFL season. The quarterback was the subject of interest from several teams after leaving the Carolina Panthers last season. However, as things stand, Newton remains a free agent.
Newton last played in the league back in January this year for the Panthers and hasn't featured since. There is still talk of him potentially returning to action soon, but he has suggested that he wants to make a fully informed decision about his future and football career.

Cam Newton has not yet decided which team he will play for in 2023. While speaking to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Newton admitted that he had a few offers in the offseason. However, he wanted to sign with a franchise that aligned with his best interests. He said:
"I have teams that are interested in signing me. I am waiting on the best fit as it pertains to winning a championship and getting a fair chance to play."
Newton may return to Carolina, having spent the majority of his NFL career with the Panthers. However, the Seattle Seahawks may also look to make a move for Newton despite Geno Smith's impressive campaign this season. It remains to be seen whether Seattle will view Smith as a long-term successor to Russell Wilson.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may also be a possible destination for Newton, with the 45-year-old Tom Brady also becoming a free agent next summer. Another option may be the Houston Texans, who are struggling to get things right under Davis Mills at quarterback.
Given that the former MVP sits at age 33, it's unlikely that a team will commit to him long-term. Nonetheless, he provides valuable experience that can be used to transition a younger quarterback into the league.
Newton will doubtless be among the top free-agent quarterbacks next season. The 33-year-old knows what it takes to reach the Super Bowl, having reached the occasion with the Panthers back in 2015. He has played in the NFL for 11 years and a number of teams would love to have him on their roster for next season.
