The report stated that Johnson punched Trubisky in the face during the New York Jets game as he was frustrated with the quarterback potentially not throwing him the ball that much.

Johnson played all 17 games this season for the Steelers while they split quarterback play between Trubisky and rookie Kenny Pickett. Johnson recorded 86 receptions for 882 yards and 0 touchdowns.

Could Diontae Johnson be the one lying about the report resurfacing this morning?

Asked about the blowup between him and Mitchell Trubisky and how accurate it is, Johnson gave a truthful answer when asked about the situation in a post-game interview three months ago.

Johnson said:

"Naah, I don't wanna get too much into detail about that, you know, we both passionate about the game, stuff happens during football. We fine, we talked about it we made up about it over the whole situation but no hard feelings towards each other. That's still my guy at the end of the day, I'mma still keep playing for him whatever it is that he needa me to do I'mma do it. Like I said, there's no bad blood between us at all."

Head coach Mike Tomlin also addressed the situation between the two teammates after the game. He was asked if there was any truth to the rumor.

Tomlin said:

"If it were, do you think that I would share it with you, in this environment? Probably not. Our business is our business. I'm not gonna acknowledge it or confirm it or deny it. I ain't got enough hours in my day for it. If it transpired, it's good it probably means that there's a couple of guys that want to win. If it did transpire it probably means it should have."

Rumors will be rumors and we'll never know what really happened, but it certainly sounds like something happened between Johnson and Trubisky.
