Sports analyst Bill Simmons was upset at New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo after the AFC East team lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 32-16, in the third NFL London Game of the 2024 season.

The Boston sports superfan didn't appreciate Mayo's comments about Ja'Lynn Polk on Sunday.

“We need more from Polk. We need more concentration. He’ll be a good player in this league, just got to continue to work at it," the former defensive player said.

Simmons took issue with these words and criticized Mayo for the way he coached this game.

"Hey Mayo, we need more from you actually. Why is your D worse every week? Did Polk jump offside on a PAT to set up a 2 point? Did Polk give up a punt TD? Did Polk call all those shitty run plays? You’re only good at throwing shade at everyone else - including the previous coach," the analyst tweeted.

After New England started the game up 7-0, the Jaguars ended up taking the win after a 22-point second quarter that gave them a lead they'd never lose.

The Patriots added three points in the second and six in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to come close to Trevor Lawrence, Brian Thomas Jr. and Co.

Jerod Mayo calls Patriots a 'soft' team

Just like Bill Simmons with him, Jerod Mayo was upset with his team after picking up its sixth consecutive loss. The first-year coach didn't mince words and called the Patriots a "soft" team after failing to do what they needed to win this matchup.

"We're a soft football team across the board," Mayo said, per ESPN. "We talk about what makes a tough football team, and that's being able to run the ball, being able to stop the run and that's being able to cover kicks. We did none of those."

This wasn't a surprise for his players, as Drake Maye revealed that the coach went off on them in the locker room.

"Coach Mayo is not going to come in here and say something to you guys that he didn't say to us in the locker room," the rookie quarterback said. "He's always preaching being tough. I think he does a great relaying the message to us and the guys know."

After upsetting the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, Jerod Mayo's Patriots haven't won a single game ever since. They will see the New York Jets in Week 8 to try to bounce back.
