Should you drop Diontae Johnson? Fantasy outlook explained

Diontae Johnson has not had the best of starts to the 2022-23 NFL season. The Pittsburgh Steelers receiver has added 295 yards on 33 catches and is yet to register his first touchdown.

Johnson's slow start to the campaign has left a few fantasy football managers worried. So, should you drop the 26-year-old receiver from your fantasy team?

The Steelers, who are fourth in the AFC North standings, will visit the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Mike McDaniel's side are third in the AFC East with three wins and three defeats.

We recommend that you remove Johnson from your fantasy team for Week 7 as he may not get much joy against the Dolphins defense. The Steelers receiver has not looked his usual self and isn't performing up to the mark. More so, a tough Miami backline will be hard to crack for a Steelers outfit with little substance at wideout.

Beyond the presence of a solid Chase Claypool, quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky have little to work with. Head coach Mike Tomlin's schemes come down to dominating the trenches with running back Najee Harris. Thus far, though, his influence hasn't been enough to translate to success in the passing game for the Steelers. This leaves receivers like Diontae Johnson exposed.

Johnson's best game of the season came in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns when he managed 84 yards on eight catches. However, the fact that he is yet to get a touchdown is an indication that you should avoid picking him.

Johnson has been one of the Steelers' most consistent performers over the past few seasons. Last year, he racked up 1,161 yards on 107 receptions with eight touchdowns. He recorded an impressive 167.4 fantasy points in 16 games over the course of the season.

However, this season, there has been a massive drop in Johnson's stats. The receiver has put up an underwhelming 33.4 fantasy points in six games so far.

Johnson has looked out of form and is not performing anywhere near the level that is expected of him. With that said, here are a few possible replacements for Johnson in your fantasy team for Week 7:
