All the suspense over the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott's contract talks this summer ended a mere hour before the Cowboys' game-day departure. He signed a $240 million deal and is one of the highest-paid players in NFL history.
The veteran QB's four-year contract extension includes a no-trade clause. It certainly gives him the security that he won't be traded away by the Jerry Jones-owned team without his consent.
That said, Prescott had this provision in previous contracts and ensured that his new deal too has those terms. Initially, the Cowboys planned for a shorter extension.
In the $240 million deal, $231 million is guaranteed, which is nearly 96% of the contract value locked in by March 2027. Dak Prescott's contract, which lasts for three more years with a no-trade clause is rare for veteran players and shows that the Cowboys are committed to Prescott for the long run.

Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones shared candid insights into Dak Prescott's contract talks
As reported by ESPN, both Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones and Executive Vice President, Stephen Jones, revealed how Dak Prescott's $240 million deal talks had both tension and a clear understanding of the business side of the game.
"Dak had a good argument: If he went to free agency, there's no telling what that number would have ended up," Jones said in an interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
"He could've gotten more if he were to be a free agent," he added.
On the other hand, Prescott pointed out that the decision might not always be his to make and said:
"At the end of the day, it's a business. I want to be here, but when you look up, all the great quarterbacks I've watched played for other teams."
The NFL veteran's new deal puts him in the same league as top QBs like Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence.
