Tua Tagovailoa suffered yet another concussion during the Miami Dolphins' Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. He sustained it after running headfirst into safety Damar Hamlin while rushing for a first down.
He was subsequently ruled out of the game, with backup Skylar Thompson filling in for the rest of the drive, which ended with a turnover on downs.
Fans made their concerns known on social media for the Pro Bowler, with some asking him to retire despite a monstrous four-year, $212-million contract:

More reactions followed on X/Twitter:
"Dolphins got fleeced by an ambulance QB," one fan lamented.
"Get well soon Tua," another fan said.
"This sounds familiar," one fan added.
Tagovailoa had been performing poorly before the injury on the night at Hard Rock Stadium, throwing only one touchdown against three interceptions (one of them returned for six) in the eventual 31-10 loss.
Tua Tagovailoa has considered retirement in the past amid concussion issues
If Tua Tagovailoa retires (perhaps not surprisingly) because of concussions, then he will belatedly fulfill something he had considered doing in the past.
Late in the 2022 season, he sustained a massive hit against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16, causing him to be ruled out of both the season finale against the New York Jets and their playoff game against the Bills.
During the ensuing offseason, the former Alabama QB revealed in his first media presser since the injury that he had indeed considered retiring before changing his mind for his son (via NFL.com):
"Yeah, I think I considered it for a time... I always dreamed of playing as long as I could to where my son knew exactly what he was watching his dad do. It's my health, it's my body, and I feel like this is what's best for me and my family. I love the game of football. If I didn't, I would've quit a long time ago," Tagovailoa said.
He also revealed that he had enrolled in jiujitsu classes to improve his ability to take a fall when tackled:
"We used crash pads to land on first. Obviously, tucking your chin – that was one of the deals – but it went a lot more into the technique of how to disperse your energy when you fall. Kind of like the posture you want to be in and if you're not presented that posture, what are other things that you can do to help you disperse the energy when you fall," Tagovailoa added.
That paid off, at least in 2023, as he would start all 17 games and in the Dolphins' playoff defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.
