The Dolphins released Tim Boyle to leave their quarterback room perilously depleted with some wondering if Tom Brady or Tua Tagovailoa might be the left-field choice jettisoned in to save Miami's fast-receding postseason hopes. Tyler Huntley, who has experience leading the Ravens to the playoffs when Lamar Jackson was injured for a significant portion of the season, has been named as the starter by Mike McDaniel.
He retains the job despite his poor performance in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks which accounted for the Dolphins' third straight loss this year and left them sitting at 1-3. The quarterback had no touchdown passes and completed merely 96 yards through the air, as the Titans beat them comprehensively despite playing much of the game with their own backup, Mason Rudolph.
Behind him, Skylar Thompson is the next option and he did not perform well when Tagovailoa went down injured and Tim Boyle was only brought in because the Dolphins thought that he might be an upgrade in that situation. Thompson is also questionable for the Week 5 game, which might make any critique of his performances a moot point.
With the quarterback cupboard completely threadbare, Miami fans are wondering what will happen if Tyler Huntley goes down during their upcoming game. Some speculated that they might finally land Tom Brady, after trying and failing earlier toward the end of his career. Others said Tua Tagovailoa might be coming out early from his concussion protocol. Here are some reactions from X/Twitter.

Some commented on how bad Tim Boyle might be given that he was released despite the state of the Dolphins' situation at quarterback. Here are some more responses.
"Gotta be eye opening to get released from a team with a quarterback room that bad," wrote one fan.
"Making room for a real QB?", asked someone else.
"How bad do you have to be to get released from the Dolphins as a QUARTERBACK???", another supporter wondered.
Dolphins will not replace Tim Boyle with either Tom Brady or Tua Tagovailoa
While we do not know if Mike McDaniel will look for some other options as his insurance at the quarterback position, one can rule out Tom Brady unretiring or Tua Tagovailoa being activated by Week 5 in lieu of Tim Boyle.
Tom Brady is fully retired and already commenting on games for FOX and it would be a breach of contract if he were to leave that return to the field. That will also jeopardize his involvement with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he is soon expected to become a minority stakeholder when the franchise owners next meet. One cannot own one NFL team and play for another.
Tua Tagovailoa also will not be available for Week 5. He suffered a concussion in Week 3 and was placed on injured reserve. That means he will definitely be out for four weeks since he was given that designation, which is until Week 7. He cannot return to the field even if he exits the concussion protocol before that.
