Tyreek Hill did not get the monstrous extension that he had been hinting at, but he is still getting paid big over the next few seasons.

On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins were announced to have restructured their star wide receiver's contract so that he would earn $90 million over the next three years ($30 million annually), including $65 million guaranteed. The ensuing new guaranteed amount of $106.5 million is the largest without adding new years in NFL history.

Of course, reactions were aplenty:

More can be seen below:

"Deserved," one said.
"Doesn't it suck to be Brandon Aiyuk," another wondered.
"Means the rest of the team suffers," yet another's criticism went.

Hill would later react:

"I promise to give you my all this year."

He followed it up with another post, saying:

"I'm here to stay."

Tyreek Hill's contract restructuring represents win for Dolphins management

Handling star players' contracts are often, if not always, a complicated task that requires general managers and owners to carefully work around egos. In another world, Tyreek Hill would have thrown a fit after not getting the big money that he wanted.

But his contract restructuring represents another major victory for Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, after he gave Tua Tagovailoa a four-year, $212.4-million extension just over a week ago amidst much speculation.

One fan said that with those moves locked down, it is now up to the roster that he has secured to deliver in the playoffs:

"I do get we haven’t won a playoff game, but as far as competitive rosters go this one and last years are probably the best I’ve ever seen. Top 10 in the league maybe 5 I’ve never been more excited to start a season. Chris has done his job, we need a little luck come December and January."

Another called Grier a fresh, winning change after more than 20 years of floundering in mediocrity:

"I find it impossible and wantonly irresponsible to give Chris Grier bad marks for his time as our GM. No other person anywhere in this organization deserves more credit than Grier for taking a near 20 year, floundering, ineptly led at all levels franchise to the point of playoff relevance.
"We have improved nearly every year since Grier was granted true authority. He has excelled in drafting, trades and signing FAs. Hiring McD certainly was an improvement over (Brian Flores). Bottom line, he has put the pieces in place for us to finally do something!"

The Dolphins begin their preseason against the Atlanta Falcons on August 9.
