Dolphins' new wide receiver Willie Snead IV had some choice words about quarterback Tua Tagovailoa when they lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs last season. The wideout had called the quarterback 'soft AF' and has now addressed the situation.

Speaking to the media, he admitted he was following the game and wanted Miami to overcome Kansas City. And as the game was trending in the opposite direction of what he was hoping for, he said that he got emotional about it and sent out the tweet that he has now come to regret.

Willie Snead IV also said that he spoke to Tua Tagovailoa after joining the Dolphins and there are no hard feelings. While working on a custom handshake, the duo have reportedly already completed some passing drills. The wide receiver said,

"Yeah, to be honest, I was watching the game. A fan of the game. I was rooting for the Dolphins that game, I wanted the Dolphins to get past the Chiefs. I was emotional about it, and I tweeted something about it I probably shouldn’t have, and I regret it today. Me and Tua talked last night, working on a handshake. We already completed one pass in one-on-ones. We put that behind us."

Was Willie Snead IV right about Tua Tagovailoa in his previous comments?

Willie Snead IV retracted his past comments and that is not a surprise given that they are now teammates. He had posted a tweet on X back in January saying,

"The Dolphins will be good when Tua stop acting soft AF"

That post has also now been deleted. But anybody supporting the Dolphins would have been disappointed with how their team performed in the AFC Divisional Round matchup. They lost 26-7 and their quarterback did not fare well in the frigid conditions at Arrowhead, completing 20 of 39 passes for 199 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

It was part of a worrying pattern towards the end of the season as they lost the AFC East top seed in the final game of the regular season to the Buffalo Bills while playing in Miami. Tua Tagovailoa completed four touchdowns against five interceptions in his final three games last season, including the playoffs. That is why, perhaps, the Dolphins are adding more offensive depth to their roster by bringing in new players like Willie Snead IV.

But as disappointing as the whole thing was, it is a stretch to say that Tua Tagovailoa is soft. It is especially concerning when language like that is used, considering how severely he has been impacted by concussion in his career and Willie Snead IV is right to retract his previous judgment.
