Dallas Cowboys fans flooded social media with passionate pleas to owner Jerry Jones after Ashton Jeanty's recent draft declaration. The Boise State running back expressed his desire to play in Dallas during an interview with NBC Dallas-Fort Worth's Pat Doney on Sunday.

Fan reactions ranged from enthusiastic support to skepticism about using the 12th overall pick on an RB. Many urged Jones to seize the opportunity, while others questioned prioritizing an RB over defensive needs.

Jeanty's connection to Dallas runs deep. He practiced at the Cowboys' facility during high school and for the Frisco Bowl.

"It would just feel like I'm at home, honestly," Jeanty said. "Dallas, they've always had a good running back, and when they've got a good running back, they play a lot better."

The star runner's 2024 college season proved historic. He rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, missing Barry Sanders' single-season record by just 28 yards. His performance helped Boise State achieve a 12-1 record and secure the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff.

Fans immediately directed urgent messages at Jones.

"C'mon Jerry don't f**k this up," one fan wrote.
"Jerry make it happen. Do something right for a change," a fan said.
"I support this message 100%," one fan wrote.

Some focused on the core issues of adding Jeanty.

"Be nice to have a bigger back. Tbh," one fan said.
"Jones would never do it because it makes too much sense and he is logic-impaired," another fan commented.
"Bet he does. Cowboys would be dumb as hell to pick a RB with the roster they have," a fan wrote.

Why Ashton Jeanty could transform the Cowboys' running game?

The Cowboys' ground game lacks explosiveness. Rico Dowdle claimed the RB1 role in 2024, posting 1,079 yards but scoring just two TDs. He managed only two runs longer than 20 yards all season.

Ashton Jeanty's college statistics tell a different story. He recorded 63 runs of 10-plus yards and 36 runs of 15-plus yards in 2024. His yards after contact alone (1,970) nearly doubled the combined total of all five Dallas RBs (1,079).

However, draft experts highlight areas that need improvement. Jeanty isn't a classic home run threat, and his pass protection remains untested at Boise State. His receiving skills need refinement before he can become a complete NFL back.

While taking Jeanty at No. 12 wouldn't spell disaster, the Cowboys face more pressing defensive needs. His bruising running style and tackle-breaking ability could ease the pressure off Dak Prescott. However, his draft value might not justify such a high selection, despite his potential to rejuvenate Dallas' ground game.

The decision facing Jerry Jones and his front office carries significant weight. Jeanty's college success and local ties make him an appealing option but the defensive front's urgent needs could push the RB down the priority list for their first round pick.
