NFL fans blast Russell Wilson for terrible final drive as Steelers lose 19-17 to Bengals - "Dude's brain turned off"

Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers qualified for the 2024 playoffs a few weeks ago, but on Saturday, they still had a game to play against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was an opportunity to steady the ship after three straight losses, but that's not what happened.

Wilson had another poor performance, and for the fourth straight game, the offense did not score more than 17 points. The quarterback was imprecise in his passes and, for the biggest part of the game, couldn't consistently lead offensive drives for the Steelers to win the game.

NFL fans were unimpressed with some of the decisions the quarterback made throughout the game, especially as the Steelers had the opportunity to kick the game-winning field goal on the final drive:

"He flashed back to 2015 and thought he could make the sideline, then realized it was 2025 and found himself in no man's land", one fan said.

"I think he decided that he could find an open receiver and if not then he would just run it out of bounds. But when he turned the corner, there was no one to throw it to and he was past the line. Then saw he couldn't get out of bounds", another fan said.

"Fields could have gotten an FG attempt on that final possession", a third fan pointed out.

What's the playoff situation for Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh Steelers?

After their fourth straight loss, they are now in danger of facing the Baltimore Ravens next week.

The Steelers finished the regular season with a 10-7 record. They are still on hold of the fight seed in the conference, but they can lose this place to the Los Angeles Chargers if they defeat the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Wilson and the Steelers have two options: if the Chargers win, as the sixth seed, they'll be visitors to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round. However, if the Chargers lose, they'll be visitors in a much more friendly environment, as the fifth seed will travel to play the Houston Texans, who won the AFC South.
