Dawyne "The Rock" Johnson's reboot of the XFL has garnered a lot of hype and success throughout the first half of the season. Attendance is up and the viewership from fans at home is also better than expected. But his league isn't the only football league that will play this spring.
The USFL, which debuted in 2022, will be returning on April 15. The league released commercials promoting its new season by taking a dig at the other league. The USFL said that the league isn't a 'Hollywood knockoff', which is apparently a reference to Johnson and his league.
"This is the USFL, reborn from the OGs. This isn't some Hollywood knockoff."

Johnson spoke with USA Today Sports this week and was asked about the USFL's new commercial and the insults toward the XFL. Dwayne Johnson said that both leagues are engaged in entertaining their fans and both are connected to Hollywood in some form. He then went on to say that he got a big laugh out of the commercial:
"We’re all in entertainment and all connected to Hollywood, so I thought that ad – we got a big laugh out of that ad. Also, it’s much easier to talk trash when you’re hiding behind the corporate walls and a computer. We’re very forward facing. We’re not hard to find."
The Rock then went on to say that it's easier to 'talk trash' when you are hiding behind a computer. Then stating that everyone involved with the XFL is easy to find and essentially not hiding.
This is clearly not the end of this newfound rivalry between both football leagues and should be entertaining for fans.
Will the XFL and USFL be aired on the same networks?
The XFL is currently being aired on the Disney brand of networks, meaning ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+. The USFL's new commercials indicate that the league will air their games on FOX Sports and NBC Sports networks.
The XFL Championship game will air on May 13, which means that there will only be one month when both leagues will be operating at the same time. Seven games in that month will either be aired at the same time or within 30 minutes of the other league.
NFL fans looking for alternate football viewing opportunities during the offseason will certainly have no shortage of entertainment in the next month or two.
